“Bruce
Mackenzie’s environmental accomplishments are almost too long to list. From
securing 90 acres from nature sanctuaries within the NPCA watershed, personally
rolling up his sleeves to help with restoration projects, and volunteering
countless hours to the Hawkwatch event at Beamer Memorial Conservation Area,
Bruce has provided education and awareness, innovation and countless hours
physically improving the environment.
It is a true passion for Bruce. Natural areas within the NPCA watershed are healthier, have grown and have improved thanks to Bruce’s efforts over many years.” – excerpt from NPCF Award Program.
The projects Bruce has been involved in and recognized for
include: Vinemount Swamp Sanctuary, Save the Wood Lot Grimsby, Grimsby Wetlands and Grimsby’s Waterfront
Trail, High school scholarship program for the Niagara Peninsula Hawkwatch,
the 1st Annual Peach Tree Christmas Bird Count, Western Lake Ontario
Important Bird Area Interpretive signage, and the Grand Old White Oak Woodlot
Rejuvenation Project.
